Description

Troy Museum is located in the entrance of Troy Ancient City (which was added to the list of world cultural heritage of UNESCO in 1998) in Tevfikiye village of the province of Çanakkale. It has a 3.000 m2 exhibition hall and an 11.200 m2 covered area. Its construction was started in 2013 and after a period of halt in 2015, it was started again in 2017 and was completed in October, 2018.

The museum tour starts with the declining ramp. On the walls of the ramp different levels of niches of Troy is showcased by gravestones, large-sized statues, dioramas and mural-sized photographs and scenes. Before visitors start their tour, in order to provide orientation, on levels on the circulation diagram of Troas and its surroundings constituting the entrance of the museum, the following are presented interactively; the science of archaeology, archaeological and archaeometric dating methods, the meaning of the terms such as “Neolithic, Chalcolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, mound, restoration, conservation” and diagrams, drawings and texts.

The exhibition consists of stone (marble), sculpture, sarcophagus, inscription, altar, milestones, Paleolithic axe and cutters etc., baked earth ceramics, metal pots; gold, weapons, coins, bone objects and tools, glass bracelets, ornaments, glasses, perfume bottles and tear bottles. In the museum garden, stone works along with landscape, sarcophagus, column, stele, column titles etc. are exhibited in a way that maintains harmony.

In addition to visual graphic designs, the museum also offers exhibitions with diorama ( 3D modeling of the moment or story with the help of light plays) touch screen and animations.
